Here are some of the photos that I took in 2010 of the memorial to the brigade Rac at Thiviers. Also below are some of the photos taken at the time of its inauguration. Both photos are taken from the book La Brigade Rac (printed in 1977).

Resistance during the occupation took many forms and individual stories of brave acts never cease to amaze me.Marie Bartette was born in 1893 in the Tarn. In august 1940 she left her job in Bordeaux and went to stay in Arachon to look after her mother who was unwell. She was the daughter of an Officer and refused to admit defeat to the Germans.

Many months ago when I first started thinking of doing a blog about the Resistance I would not of thought that my first post would be about the recent death of a good friend. Someone I had never met but through much correspondence still someone I would call a good friend.
