Robert Pruvot du réseau “Evasion”

Récemment j’ai acquis des objets concernant Robert Pruvot ainsi qu'une personne qui avait rangé des pièces d’une vieille maison dans le Suffolk en Angleterre.
Agent du réseau “Evasion”, il fut arrêté à la Mairie de Grand-Fort-Philippe par la Gestapo le 24 avril 1942.

Un an et demi plus tard, le 22 novembre 1943 Robert a été exécuté à Dormund en Allemagne. Il avait 23 ans.
Robert a 16 ans lorsqu’il fonde en 1936 le club de football – l’Olympique Grand-Fort-Philippe, ancêtre de l’actuel Sporting Club.

Il y a deux ans la municipalité de la ville avait inauguré une plaque en souvenir de Robert Pruvot à l’entrée du stade qui porte déjà son nom (Lien ci-dessous).
René Pruvot l’un de ses frères et Gut Finot son ami (arrêté en même temps que Robert) étaient présents à l’inauguration.
 

Voici quelques photos de cette petite collection. Il y a une dédicace en verso d’une des photos à Inés écrit par Robert en partie en anglais et en partie en français datée du 4 novembre 1941.

Dernièrement j’étais en relation avec la famille de Robert Pruvot, en particulier son frère René et son neveu Laurent. Je leur suis très reconnaissant lorsqu’ils m'ont fait parvenir des renseignements et une photographie de Robert plus jeune.

La famille possède déjà les photographie de grand frère et le diplôme du souvenir remis à Inés.

“Nous l’avons connue en août 1941 harcelée par la Gestapo (maman venait de finir 7 à 8 mois de prison pour révolte envers un officier allemand) comme beaucoup d’anglais qui résident dans la région.”

Robert était l’un de trois frères et Raphael, deuxième de la fratrie était un membre de l’AS.

René n’avait que 12 ans en 1940 et mis en pension après l’arrestation de sa mère et cela jusqu’en 1945.En 1942 une bombe anglaise a détruit leur maison à Dunkerque.

Dans le livre de Jean-Marie Fossier Zone Interdite,  est indiqué à la page 358 que le groupe de Robert fut en liaison avec le réseau ‘Shelburn’ chargé de retrouver, héberger et évacuer vers l’Espagne les aviateurs alliés abattus au dessus du littoral.

Recently I acquired some items from someone who had cleared out a house in Suffolk. The items in question concern a résistant called Robert Pruvot who was part of the réseau ‘Evasion’ in the north of France. He was arrested by the Gestapo on the 24^th of april 1942 at the Mairie at Grand-Fort-Philippe where he was working. He was deported to Dortmund in Germany where on the 22^nd of November 1943 he was executed.

Robert was born in 1920 and by the age of sixteen he had founded a local football club called at the time l’Olympique Grand-Fort-Philippe and is now known today as Sporting Club.

In the town of Grand-Fort-Philippe one of the main roads carries his name and there is a plaque in his honour at the entrance of the Mairie. The local stadium is also named after him and on the 21^st of May 2009 a plaque was inaugurated at its entrance in his memory. This had been a long term wish of one of his brothers Raphael who sadly died in 2010, he had also been a member of the résistance.

Present at the inauguration of the plaque was another brother René and good friend and comrade from the era Gut Finot. He also had been arrested at the same time as Robert and spent three years in concentration camps until being liberated by the Allies. Now aged 91 he was present recently at the commemoration of the 66^th anniversary of the 8^th May 1945.

The items that I have acquired are two photos of Robert, one dated 4^th November 1941 with a message to his sister Inés written on the back and a photo of a Lady, his mother I believe. I also have a Diplome du Souvenir en hommage à la mémoire de Robert Pruvot dated 1970 and sent to Inés Burrows-Turner. 

I am now trying to find out what I can about Robert and the réseau ‘Evasion’ and am in the process of contacting his family in France so I can forward these objects on to them. I’ll keep you posted.
