L'inauguration du Mémorial de la brigade Rac se déroula le 28 août 1977 à l'intersection de  la nationale 21 et de l'avenue de Verdun, à Thiviers en Dordogne.

Well, they say you never forget your first, and that's certainly true for me concerning the first item I ever bought connected to the Résistance. Many years ago, my wife and I were staying with some friends near Montmoreau in the Charente and they suggested we all go visit a huge warehouse full of second hand stuff. Sounded good to us.

I was recommended recently a book about the Résistance in the south of the Dordogne entitled ‘Messages personnels’ by Bergeret (Maurice Loupias) and Herman Grégoire and I have been able to track down the ‘édition du maquis’ version of the book printed in 1945 of which 500 copies were printed and numbered.

M.R.D. Foot

Sadly M.R.D. Foot, historian of the Special Operations Executive has died aged 92. He drew on his own wartime experiences to become the official historian of the S.O.E. and was commissioned to write one of the first books on the subject.

I recently had the good fortune of acquiring these excellent F.F.I brassards. The top one with the croix de Lorraine de trèfle, was issued in the north east of France in region D2.
