Many thanks to the 490th BG Memorial Project who allowed me to be part of their presentation in the Town Hall of Eye, Suffolk during the Wartime Experience Weekend held in Eye on the 8th / 9th August 2015.
This was my first opportunity to present to the public part of my collection of books, objects and photos of the Résistance and the Liberation of France.
The display was very well received and it was great to meet and talk with so many people. In particular a local chap who was the proud owner of a Sten and had recently visited Oradour. A couple who owned a 1947 Traction Avant and some of the guys from Bottisham Airfield Museum who are having an Open Day on 27th September. I also met one of the volunteers from the 100th BG museum based at Thorpe Abbotts in Norfolk. The 100th BG participated in Operation Cadillac, the massive parachute drop to the Résistance in six départements of France on 14th July 1944.
